Tiers Mediant as a new solution approach

Current billing methods in the Swiss healthcare system (tiers garant, tiers payant and tiers soldant) are regarded by many (patients, service providers, insurance providers) as unsatisfactory. As a result of conflicting interests and differing system incentives for participants, each type of billing has its advantages and disadvantages.

The 'tiers mediant' approach delivers genuine benefits for all participants while catering for the needs of each.
The new model satisfies data protection requirements and addresses collection risks. Above all, the approach generates greater transparency with respect to service billing, and reduces administration effort for all as a result of reciprocal communication and the efficient exchange of medical and administrative data.
Future innovations in the Swiss healthcare system (e.g. the introduction of a medical insurance card) have already been built into the new solution approach.
